Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Burghfield Common

The Hatch Gate Inn

Reading Rd, Burghfield, Reading RG30 3TH, UK – 0118 983 2059

Very good food. Attentive but not over the top service. Restaurant and main bar are separated that makes it a better experience. Can't go wrong with this place.

Dropped in for a drink and something to eat. Dog was allowed in garden but not inside - fine evening so no problem. Taking food order was a bit slow. However food arrived quickly and was very good. Well defined flavours. We will definitely try their delivery offering before too long.

The Spring Inn

Bath Rd, Sulhamstead, Reading RG7 5HP, UK – 0118 930 3440

I visited The Spring Inn on a whim when I had 20 minutes to spare before an appointment. I told the very friendly staff I didn't have long but I'd really like to eat, and ordered a chicken and avocado sandwich. I don't know whether they genuinely rushed the order or not, but I was eating within 5 minutes of ordering. The sandwich itself was fantastic. Two thick slices of bread, plenty of chicken, avocado, and salad, and a thick slab of melted cheese. All accompanied by fresh and very crispy chips. Wonderful staff, brilliant food, I'll be coming back.

The Spring Inn is a lovely quaint building with lots of character. It is warm and welcoming and the staff are very attentive. I didn't enjoy the roast dinner, it was over seasoned with pepper. It would have been better if they allowed customers to season their own food. My son enjoyed his meal, but he likes spicy food. I wouldn't go there again.
